The Supervisory Psychiatrist is accountable to the Associate Chief of Staff for Mental Health and is responsible for broad program Management of the 50-bed Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MHRRTP) which also include the 35-bed Domiciliary Care for Homeless Veterans (DCHV) and the 15-bed Substance Abuse Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program, and the 24 bed Compensated Work / Transitional Housing programs.

Major duties and responsibilities include: Conduct history, physical exams and mental status exams on assigned patients. Interpersonal and clinical skills to provide direct clinical mental health services for VA patients. Ensure completion of psychosocial evaluation, assessment, and periodic reassessments of Veterans for appropriate placement along the Mental Health continuum of care. Complete intake assessments and formulate diagnosis. Develop and present treatment plans to the multidisciplinary treatment team. Order all necessary laboratory and radiological assessments. Initiate and process consults and provide referrals as indicated. Provide psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy as indicated in the treatment plan. Maintain effective and up-to-date documentation of patient encounters. May require maintaining credentials and privileges at the Joint Venture Hospital. Perform psychiatry during regular, extended hours, and on-call duties as needed. Participate in professional and administrative activities as assigned. Is flexible and able to develop and participate on teams and in programs to ensure effective communication both within the services and with other clinical services and administrative and support services external to them. Ensure completion of psychosocial evaluation, assessment, and periodic reassessments of Veterans for appropriate placement along the Mental Health continuum of care. Practice or delivery of services for Veteran care, may be provided across the spectrum of care from Primary Care Mental Health Integrated Care, Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP), General Mental Health, Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Programs (MHRRTP) and/or inpatient Mental Health at Joint Venture Hospital at JBER. Position is only at MHRRTP. Coordinate provision of Veteran care, ensuring continuity of care is provided by team members to and from the above areas of Primary Care, Specialty Mental Health Services, Integrated Mental Health Services, BHIP, General Mental Health, MHRRTP, Homeless Veterans services, and Inpatient services. Participate in all National and VISN level calls/trainings etc. for continued programing. Support fellow Mental Health leadership in developing quality improvement and Personnel Practices to enhance service provision. The Mental Health leadership team includes ACOS, Mental Health, and Chiefs of Psychiatry, Psychology, Social and Behavioral Health, and Social Work. Need language about administrative duties - these above all for a Physician who is not a manager.
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus (up to an additional 7.5% of their salary (not to exceed $15k), regular salary increases.
Paid Time Off: Annual leave at the rate of eight (8) hours per biweekly pay period; Sick leave at the rate of four (4) hours per biweekly pay period; 10 paid Federal holidays per year.
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years' vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory.

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting.
