The ComputerSystems Operator (CSO) I monitors, reports and takes correction action tosupport the operations of the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Ground FireControl (GFC) & Communications (GFC/C) system. Duties andResponsibilities:
  • Supportthe operation of the GMD GFC/C system to include, but not limited to:monitoring assets, reporting, analyzing, and assisting with issues associatedwith operations, test and exercise events, scheduled system and sitetransitions, and development activities
  • Usethe Asset Management Process, the Consequence Management Plan, the IncidentCommand System, and Readiness Condition Specifications
  • Archiverelated information, to include database records and provide to residentengineers, programmers, and product support personnel
  • Responsiblefor the startup, configuration, monitoring, and analyzing of GFC/C operationalsoftware and connections to other missile defense assets and elements
  • Interfacewith customers to provide Level 1 problem resolution, determininghardware/software and interface anomalies, generate trouble reports andperforms recovery actions as directed by governing regulations
  • Monitorboth local and wide area classified/unclassified networks using HP OpenViewapplications
  • Identifyand isolate hardware problems and performing router and switch portconfigurations as well as the execution of intelligent protection switches(IPSs) in accordance with prescribed documentation
  • Effectivelyinterface and communicate with military and customers to provide problemresolution
  • Determineshardware/software interface anomalies, generate trouble reports using Remedy ITService Management Software and perform recovery actions as directed bygoverning regulations.
  • Archiverelated information, to include database records and provide to residentengineers, programmers, and product support personnel
  • Adhereto applicable procedures, policies, and directives utilizing appropriateprocesses, approved procedures and management directives
  • Effectivelyrespond to work schedule changes and recall activities as needed to supportmission requirements
  • Otherduties as assigned
  • MinimumQualifications: (Toperform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform eachessential duty satisfactorily.)
  • High school degree/GED required
  • IAT Certification Level II, SecurityPlus certification IAW DoD 8570
  • Some computer related experience(e.g.: UNIX, MS Office, databases, software applications and hardware) and SunSolaris platforms is desired
  • DoD secret clearance eligible toobtain an DoD Top Secret clearance
  • Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities:
  • Must be able to accommodate andsupport a 24 hour per day/7 day per week/365 day per year work schedule
  • Ability to effectively communicatewith a variety of military and government customers.
  • Ability to work effectively insmall teams.
  • Ability to read, understand, andexecute detailed technical documentation such as checklists and operationalprocedures
  • Must display a high level ofinitiative, work well with others, and must be able to take ownership ofproblems and pro-actively work them to resolution
  • Travel: Must be able to travel upto 10% of the time as needed

  • While performing the duties of thisJob, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
